Ashley Sloat is one of the best patent agents out there. She is wicked smart and able to get up to speed quickly on any technology that you could put in front of her. For example, Ashley has successfully mastered technologies ranging from robotic surgical instruments and transcranial brain stimulation devices to Internet-connected smart home devices. Ashley is efficient and results-oriented. She is also able to see the big picture, develop an overarching strategy for a company’s patent portfolio, and execute toward a well thought out, but dynamic plan.  Ashley is incredibly organized and is fastidious about every detail that goes into maintaining a patent portfolio.  Further, she lead the charge on developing Aurora’s core practices and procedures and so is well aware of everything that goes in to delivering a premium client service. Ashley is a pleasure to work with, very responsive, and impeccable about meeting deadlines—even those self-imposed—without fail. Ashley is an absolute rock star. I recommend her without hesitation.

Aurora Consulting has been instrumental in advancing G-Tech’s early stage patent portfolio.  They did a remarkable job in taking an initial filing that we frankly thought had little chance of being accepted and getting it narrowed to the essential elements, answering numerous reviewer objections and rejections, eventually culminating in an accepted set of claims.  We are thrilled by this.  The best part is that the work was done was as part of a larger portfolio strategy, setting up the second filing to be successful as well, even though both filings preceded their work with us.  These are smart, experienced people, and they are a pleasure to work with.  I’m very confident that the patents we have filed since engaging with Aurora will be successful and I’m also confident that we are building a portfolio that is well thought out to make optimal use of our inventive ideas in protecting our business.

I have been very pleased with Aurora Consulting. They respond promptly, work rapidly and well, and provide very good value. As a business owner, they have allowed me to focus on the critical aspects of IP–invention generation and strategic planning–while taking care of all the formalities and logistics. Will definitely continue working with them.

The development of a solid intellectual property position represents a critical step for many early stage companies.  Aurora Consulting has provided our company with an outstanding proactive and highly strategic approach to IP execution and portfolio management.  What is particularly impressive is how each member of the team has efficiently and effectively contributed to managing and growing an outstanding foundational patent portfolio on our behalf.  Thank you Aurora!

I think you’ve [Ashley’s] done an amazing job! I’m really quite impressed how you’ve [she’s] been able to read, absorb and synthesize all of the information I provided and then create such a coherent document. This is really great.

The Aurora group managed our large patent portfolio at Hansen Medical for 4 years. We used them instead of hiring full time internal patent counsel and I would highly recommend them for this approach. During that time, Kristen and Ashley learned most of our critical technologies, as if they were full time Hansen employees. In addition, Aurora managed our invention disclosure process, drafted provisional and utility patent applications on a regular basis for us and managed our US and foreign patent prosecution process. They also worked with outside counsel where appropriate. We had multiple outside patent houses involved in our patents over the past 5 yrs so the continuity and consistency of the Aurora group during that time was much appreciated. The Aurora group strongly contributed to the robust patent portfolio at Hansen and it was the strength of the patent portfolio that resulted in the acquisition of Hansen. I look forward to working with them again.

Ashley and the team at Aurora Consulting are a force to be reckoned with. Ashley is single-handedly the reason we can say “patent-pending” on our products, while her dedicated staff is diligent and prompt.  With us having zero legal patent experience, Ashley has been delightfully patient in guiding us through the process and helping us stay on schedule.  We wouldn’t have gotten this far without her, and we plan to retain her services for many years to come. Aurora will definitely be our first stop when designing a new product and planning a strategy around patent protection in the competitive landscape of the beauty industry. Thank you, Ashley and the Aurora team, for all that you do!

Aurora Consulting is one of the approved firms to provide patent related services to startups by Ann Arbor SPARK. Ashley took over our existing patent prosecution (the process of negotiating with the USPTO for successful granting of a patent) and made astute amendments to the existing application done by another firm, overcoming two separate rejections by the USPTO. Ashley has the rare combination of technical proficiency as well as being a world-class negotiator. Upon news of the granting of the utility patent, needless to say, we were ECSTATIC!! We’ve had prior experience with USPTO on two other patent applications, and know how difficult it can be in the current environment to obtain a patent in the software space, and we are deeply grateful for Ashley and her team’s effort and the awesome result they were able to deliver for us.

All this cryptic terminology, secrecy, and deadlines remind me of mission impossible! Thanks for getting this done! I feel like I am “M”. I approved and funded but you guys are deep undercover on the front lines. Even if I don’t completely understand what you’re doing you take your jobs dead serious.

Ashley and her team at Aurora Consulting have been fantastic! As a small company, we needed expert IP work but did not want to pay the cost of an IP attorney for every little thing. We worked with Ashley to draft all of our patents which only required us to do a quick review with our attorney. This saved us a ton and we got many patents issued. Ashley was also fantastic at keeping us organized and making sure we didn’t miss any deadlines. It was like having an in-house IP professional. I’d highly recommend her and the team at Aurora.

Ashley, I want to thank you once again for the stellar work you do for us and for always being responsive. It is such a pleasure working with you and your team.
